We are pleased to share that Martin Tolhurst Solicitors has partnered with Positive Planet, a leading UK sustainability consultancy. This collaboration marks an important step in our firm’s commitment to reducing our environmental impact and supporting wider efforts toward a more sustainable future.
As a long-established law firm, we recognise that businesses in all sectors - legal included - must take meaningful action to address the climate crisis. With the support of Positive Planet, we are starting the process of measuring our carbon footprint across all areas of the firm and developing a realistic, tailored plan to reduce it.
Andrew Ashley-Edwards, Managing Partner at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors, commented:
“At Martin Tolhurst, we believe that sustainability is no longer optional - it’s a responsibility. Our partnership with Positive Planet reflects a firm-wide commitment to understanding and reducing our environmental impact in a meaningful way. As a business rooted in our community, we want to do our part in shaping a greener, more sustainable future for the generations to come.”
Positive Planet specialises in helping professional service organisations, like law and accountancy firms, to understand their environmental responsibilities and navigate the path to net zero. Their approach is practical, data-driven, and focused on achievable action rather than vague pledges. With their help, we will be undertaking a detailed carbon footprint assessment, followed by the creation of a bespoke carbon reduction strategy.
Beyond emissions, this partnership also supports a wider cultural shift within the firm. Sustainability is not just a matter of policies - it’s about awareness, accountability, and shared responsibility. We’ll be working with our teams to build understanding of the steps we can all take to make a positive impact, both in the office and beyond.
This isn’t about chasing headlines or ticking boxes. It’s about real change, understanding our current position, setting clear goals, and working steadily to improve. We want to lead by example and show that it is possible to combine professional excellence with environmental responsibility.
Over the coming months, we’ll share updates on our progress, including key milestones such as the results of our carbon audit and the measures we’ll be introducing to reduce emissions. This is an ongoing journey, but one we are proud to begin in partnership with Positive Planet.
