Kent Law Firm Martin Tolhurst Solicitors reveal expansion plans

  • Posted

KENT law firm Martin Tolhurst Solicitors has revealed plans for a major investment in its family law, private client, litigation and commercial  work.  The firm has also decided to leave the QualitySolicitors brand it has been associated with for the past six years.

Managing Partner, Richard Carter said: “As a law firm we are well known for our property work. We are the largest solicitors firm in the South East for conveyancing according to Land Registry figures over the past 2 years.  When considering our business plan for 2017-2020 the firm wants to focus on expanding our family law department, private client, litigation and commercial work. Over the last 6 months we have undergone a substantial review of our business and felt that we should focus more  on local  and regional marketing  instead of being part of a national brand. We are celebrating 130 years of trading in Kent over the next 12 months and we looked at our strengths – our local name and brand was a key part of our identity for our clients”

Carter added: “We have decided to make significant investment in our marketing, staff and offices over the next 3 years. We serve the people of Kent exceptionally well for their residential conveyancing work and we are now looking to re double our efforts to increase our market share for matrimonial, private client , litigation and commercial work. After the recent attraction of a number of quality new fee earners and an investment of nearly £500,000 in IT systems we felt it was the right time to market ourselves more regionally. We are therefore leaving QS after 6 productive years within their network.”

Martin Tolhurst Solicitors have unveiled  their new look branding today at a meeting of all of their staff  and this will coincide with a significant marketing campaign promoting the new look firm and  website. The firm will be using digital media alongside more traditional methods of billboards, brochures and radio adverts.

Nick Howitt, QualitySolicitors Network Director commented “With a revised model bringing new benefits to our members, we now have new firms joining us and lots more interest in where the network is going. We continue to recognise that law firms are diverse, and our past, current and future model will not suit every business. As a valued longstanding member and supporter of QualitySolicitors, we wish Martin Tolhurst all the very best with their expansion plans and regional focus.”

Martin Tolhurst Solicitors currently have six offices across Kent; - Gravesend, Ashford, Longfield, Medway, Sittingbourne and Dartford. The Firm has over 140 employees and a turnover in 2015/16 of nearly £9 million. The Firm  has Lexcel, Conveyancing Quality Scheme  and Family Law accreditations. It won the LFS Conveyancing Firm of the Year for London and the South East in 2015 and were Highly Commended in the 2016 awards.
