Simon Franklin
Simon is now a consultant; he was a partner in the firm for more than 40 years and previously headed up our Wills, Probate and Trust department and dealt with associated property matters. He has a wealth of experience in that field, with a specialism in Agricultural work, acting for many farmers in the North Kent area and beyond.
“What Simon says:”
Many of my clients are families who have been with me for decades. In some cases, I am now acting for the third generation! I have lived in Kent all my life, qualified as a solicitor in 1982 and became a partner with Martin Tolhurst in 1985.
My approach to the law is to achieve the client’s objectives speedily and cost-effectively. I always try to explain complex legal issues straightforwardly, an approach that has been recognised and appreciated by clients in their feedback over the years.
I am a member of, and a past President, of the Kent Law Society, and a past President of the Medway Law Society.
In keeping with the Kent connection, I have followed the fortunes of Kent County Cricket Club for many years. In the winter months, I can be found sitting in the football stands watching either Gillingham or Ebbsfleet United, no doubt getting cold and bemoaning why winter lasts longer than summer.
“If I were not a lawyer, I would be…”
Doing Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain out of a job and travelling the continent as a cricket commentator on Sky TV, or covering the Six Nations rugby on TV, nice work if you can get it. I went to university many years ago, intending to follow a career in sports journalism, came out with a law degree, got sidetracked, and became a solicitor…..!
