Kerry Hunt

Residential Conveyancer

Kerry is a member of our Ashford team and deals with residential property transactions including Leasehold and Freehold sales, purchases and shared ownership.

What Kerry says:

“I first joined the legal profession in 1999 as a receptionist/secretary for the Partner who dealt with both residential and commercial conveyancing, as well as will drafting.  Initially I found the legal terminology a little daunting but loved the challenge and gradually got to grips with it and continued to develop my knowledge.  My perseverance and hard work paid off, as I was later then encouraged to become a Conveyancer myself, with my own caseload specialising in freehold property.

I took a break from my career when I had my children, however later joined a firm in the Thanet area where I continued to proceed with my career in residential property law, it was at this stage that I began my studies to become a licensed conveyancer with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC). I was with the firm for around 2 years, before moving to a firm in Canterbury to deal with shared ownership transactions.  This role was a fantastic position for me to really expand my knowledge in property law, especially leasehold conveyancing.

I am pleased to have now joined the friendly and professional Property Law team at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors. From a client perspective, I understand that property transactions can seem confusing, especially for those who have not had too much experience of buying and selling property and I enjoy helping to guide my clients through what is one of the most stressful times in their life.

Outside of work when I am not chauffeuring my two children to their numerous social activities,I like to spend quality family time with them. I do of course have to compete with the Xbox!  On the few occasions that I win the battle, we enjoy going to the cinema, bowling, eating out and having lovely long walks with our Labrador."

If I were not a lawyer, I would be:

A psychologist, human beings are fascinating, rarely do we find two the same I would love to have a better understanding of why we do what we do.
