What Emily says:
After completing my BA Hons degree in English and Philosophy at the University of Bristol in 2010, I then converted to law by completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in London, to achieve my LLB degree in 2012. I joined Martin Tolhurst Solicitors later that year to start my Training Contract and qualified as a Solicitor in 2014.
At the end of 2014 I was awarded a Fee Earner Gold Award by the Partners under the firm’s Client Care Plus Programme as a result of the consistently positive feedback I have received from my clients.
I am a member of the Kent Law Society, and ensure I attend regular training to stay on top of any changes to the law that may impact my clients.
As my client I will be pleased to assist with any concerns or questions with regards to making adequate plans for the end of your life, to ensure matters are easier for your loved ones to deal with. Alternatively, I would be glad to offer advice about how the introduction of the new Residence Nil Rate Band may affect you for tax planning purposes. I am happy to visit my clients at their home or nursing home should they be unable to attend the office. Since welcoming my son in 2015, I now work in the office part time, on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays.
Outside of the office I love being Mummy to my son Joshua, and I have an active role in my local Church, Connect Church Maidstone, running the Crèche on a Sunday morning and helping to run a local Toddler group in the Community each week. I also volunteer for a charity called the Princess Project which seeks to help young Mums in need of a little extra support.
If I were not a lawyer, I would be...
A stay at home Mummy or an event/wedding planner! I enjoyed planning my own wedding and have since been involved with planning and hosting events for my Church. It’s hard work but the end result is always really satisfying!
