Chloe is currently a Trainee Solicitor based at our Gravesend office working in her third seat within Commercial Law department. In addition, Chloe also has experience dealing with different aspects of the Family Law as well as Residential Conveyancing.
What Chloe says:
“I completed my LLB Hons Degree in Law at the University of Kent in Canterbury and thereafter completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in London.
I have always been intrigued by the ways in which different laws and legal processes can change a person’s life. Legislations seem to be objective while each individual’s interpretation of them can be subjective. However, it is always my top priority to act in the best interest of every client in order to result in the best outcome in every case.
I previously worked at a firm which primarily dealt with Residential & Commercial Property Law as well as Wills and Probate. I'd frequently liaise between clients, estate agents and other legal parties. I therefore have an in-depth understanding of how clients can sometimes feel overwhelmed by the process of completing a sale or purchase, as many situations can occur and require immediate solutions with reassurance that any issues will be resolved as soon as possible. On the other hand, drafting Wills requires true comprehension of each client’s wishes.
I am currently in my third seat dealing with mainly lease extensions for landlords and tenants. When acting for a tenant, there are usually two approaches to extend a lease, these are informal and statutory routes. The main issue in disagreement is typically the lease premium and this can be quite interesting.
There have been cases where the landlord is in full agreement with the tenant in terms of the lease premium and sometimes they can propose a very high premium which does not correspond with the value suggested by the surveyor. It is important that tenants understands the fair and reasonable premium they should pay for.
Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym and travelling around the world to learn new cultures and languages.”
If I were not a Trainee Solicitor, I would be...
A foreign language teacher. I find it fascinating of how everyone can understand one another around the world through communicating with different languages, cultures and customs. I am fluent in three languages at present and intend learn more!
