  • Posted

The names of the brightest and best from the solicitor profession have been unveiled by the Law Society for its annual Excellence Awards, now in its 11th year. The awards recognise the commitment, enthusiasm, and passion that solicitors dedicate to serving their clients and the legal system.

Law Society President Joe Egan said, “To be shortlisted for an award is an achievement to be proud of and showcases the work these Firms provide to their clients and the wider community.”

Kent Solicitors Firm, Martin Tolhurst, have for the first time been shortlisted for the prestigious Excellence in Learning & Development category. The Managing Partner of Martin Tolhurst Solicitors, Richard Carter, commented, “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this national award. We have a comprehensive training, learning and development programme for all of our staff and to be in the final 6 Firms for the award, from 10,000 Solicitors Firms nationally is quite some achievement.  We have an active programme of training sessions online and face-to-face for all of our staff to develop them and provide the very best in client care.” The awards ceremony will be held at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London on 19th October with BBC presenter, Mishal Husain, hosting the awards.

Judges, Suzanne Fine (director of professional development at Lex Mundi) and Joanne Gubbay (Head of learning and development at Slaughter & May) will be assessed the Firms learning and development programme and how it enhances the business through ‘increased efficiency and improved service’ for clients. It was on this basis that Martin Tolhurst were shortlisted.

The Firm always strive for excellence in client care and are committed to investing in the continued learning and development of all staff members across the Firm. Martin Tolhurst Solicitors are delighted to have been recognised for this continued commitment within the Firm for our longstanding development and achievements. As a result, we have been privileged to not only be shortlisted for the aforementioned award with The Law Society, but also being shortlisted for another training programme award in September 2017 at the Law Firms Services Awards. This category of award is for the training and development of residential conveyancing staff.
